TYB Social Club Game 24/04/11

Easter Sunday and for some TYB players it's the third straight day of poker. Some just don't know when to quit. But as expected, Sunday is a good day where the majority are available for a social game. There are some bad beats, bad dealer and bad shooting (faga faga faga)...

May decides to use an unusual card protector in the form of action figurine. And I'm not sure if this worked but she managed to lock down 2 points.

EvilUso is on the BBQ cooking up a storm and those who were eliminated from the poker game, are playing trump on an adjacent table. Besides the main game, there are some individual players that also running their side games. One pair in particular is the side game between Evil74 and Gakua, who face off on the final table, the victor?

The first game is an epic one, but dont just take my word for it, click below to see a few of these hands on the final table:
AK wins
97 offsuit wins
Faga faga full house
One point to C-One
Faga faga blind

Yet again, another successful Social Game game weekend.

TYB Social Club Game 17/04/11

Another Sunday TYB Social Club game held at Pembroke. As mentioned last week, team Amazons was to be served lunch by the other two teams (Spartans and Gladiators). And as promised the Spartans and Gladiators served up a banquet for all to share.

This week we had a young player, Simi, who took out a few of the TYB players. Bakerboy dubbed him Mr Ruthless's mini-me (same colored ipod, headphones and he was of Niuean decent).

After lunch, we had an announcement that a new player had joined the team. Then it was on to the second game which had one of the baddest beats I've seen to date.

T-Rex pushes All In with Pocket Rockets, with three callers (Bakerboy, EvilUso and Mr Ruthless)
Showdown:
T-Rex AA vs Bakerboy JT (suited) vs EvilUso JT (off suit) vs Mr Ruthless JT (off suit)

The Flop: J-K-rag card
Aces looking good, while the other three hit the flop

The Turn: A
T-Rex still looking good and hits his set.

The River: Q
T-Rex's Pocket Rockets are cracked, the pot this split three ways.

The burn card before the river happened to be the last Ace in the deck.
Wow! I missed capturing that on video, but that was one for the books.

There was another All In incident that happened late in the game.
Gakua pushes All In with AJ, with four callers.
Showdown:
Lengz Q2 (off-suit) vs Mr Ruthless 75 (suited) vs Bakerboy AJ (off-suit) vs Gakua AJ (off-suit) vs Dom 75 (suited)

This is how is went down, click here

Again, as always was another successful weekend with the poker crew.

Ride The Rush Tournament

This is my first tournament as a TYB member. Everyone at my table knew each other from previous tournaments, so knew how they played. The cards I was dealt weren't working in my favour, but as soon as I hit a pair or got dealt pockets I raised high to eliminate any chasers. And because I was unknown player to others, they all folded. Throughout the tournament I may have gone ‘All In’ at least 5 times.

One hand I remember clearly was just after the first break. Lily from TUS raises pre-flop. With AK (off-suit) I call along with a couple other players.
The flop: K-J-T.
Lily (TUS) raises again, all but Kate (RTR) and myself call.
The turn: A
This gives me two pairs, but exposes a possible straight, with only a Q.
Again, Lily raises even higher to which Kate calls without hesitation. I'm left thinking about my options, knowing that these two are most likely holding the Q, giving them their straight. Eventually, I call hoping for a full house or straight split pot.
The river: 8
Both players throw down their cards: Lily (TUS) KQ and Kate (RTR) AQ, both splitting the pot. EPIC FAIL on my part and I’m left with my chip stack reduced by 20k. A lesson well learnt.

As the day progresses, fellow TYB player: Pascual joins my table. She has a healthy looking chip stack. However during her time on the table, her chip stack gets reduced, in a similar fashion as above. Pascual's last ‘All In’ hand, the flop was A-6-4 off suit. Fono (RA) re-raises, Jo (Oceans 11) calls, I am ‘All In’ with AJ (suited). I win the hand against Fono, AJ vs AT. Jo mucks his hand and Pascual is eliminated from the tournament.

The blinds are now 3K/6K, this time TYB Player: Nikko joins the table.
The flop: 9-T-J
Jo (Oceans 11) raises 20K and the majority of the players fold. The action is on me and I’m only holding QJ (off-suit). With only 10k left, I’m left contemplating to take the risk and run with top pair J plus with the Q kicker, giving me more outs, with an open-ended straight. I push ‘All In’ again, everyone else folds. I stand to watch my fate.
Showdown: QJ vs J6
I’m looking good and the cards work out in my favour.

We are down to final 3 tables and Mrs Ruthless, Nikko and myself are still in the game. It is not long and both Nikko and Mrs Ruthless are blinded out at the same time. As the sole surviving TYB player, I am left surrounded by players with decent chip stacks. I push forward and find myself making it to the final two tables, but with only 21k.

Blinds are now at 5K/10K and I am the only girl on the table. The dealer is chosen and I have an RA member to the left of me. Some players are knocked from the other table and one player leaves to join the other table. As expected on each hand, players go ‘All In’ and before I knew it I was on big blind. I fold my hand and decide to have one more go, but this time I’m going to call blind as small blind is now on me. Jazz pushes me ‘All In’ and I call with only 11K total. I reveal my cards and it is pocket 7's versus A9 (off-suit)
The flop 5-8-A, Jazz hits top pair with his Ace. The turn card is a 4. Giving me some outs with a possible straight or trips. But the river card misses, thus ending my run and sealing the deal on my tournament hopes.

TYB Social Club Game 10/04/11

Its another Sunday in South Auckland and with no tournaments this weekend, its back to our TYB Social games. It was a good turnout with the crew just another fun game with friends and family. The first SC game was an all out battle, but the second game had a twist. The poker crew was divided into three groups: Spartans, Gladiators and the Amazons. This was to encourage team play and the two losing teams is to prepare lunch for the winning team next week.
The result?
Amazons won... so looks like its time to cook lunch next week.
