Chantelle Team Tournament

Chantelle Team Tournament held at Weymouth Cosmopolitan Club
Team tournament is based on teams of four players. When eliminated from the game, each player earns points depending when you exit the tournament. So if you were the 40th player eliminated, you earn 40 points for your team. The team with the highest score was the winner.

TYB had players in 5 teams-
Outlawz: Doug E, Lasi, Nikko and R.O.B
Big Boy Callers: Evil74, Bakerboy, Mr Ruthless and EvilUso
All In Blacks: C-One, Gakua, Lengz and Faga
Cheetahs: Dom, La2, Pascual and Mrs Ruthless
B.O.T.Z: Richard, Ange, T-Rex and Numbers

I was assigned to table 8, seat 5, located in the middle of the table. Early in the game, I manage to get a small lead taking down some small pots, but I manage to rack in a decent size pot with a hand just before the first break.
I’m on the dealer button and everyone folds back to the person on my right who calls the blinds. I call with TJ suited hearts.
So with only four in the hand, down comes the flop.
Flop is A (hearts) K (hearts) Q (clubs)
Both blinds check, where the person to my right bets blinds. I re-raise with my straight, to which both blinds fold. Player on my right calls, so now it’s heads up situation.
Turn is a rag (heart)
Player checks, I raise 3 times the blinds, improving my hand from straight to flush. Player calls.
River card is another rag (heart)
Player raises $6k and I’m left with a decision. Only a one card flush draw, only one card in the deck could take it out. After deliberating for a while, I finally call to see if he had the nut flush
Showdown:
Unknown player AJ vs Numbers TJ suited hearts
Whew, I was happy to have taken down a big pot so early in the game. So its break time and revelling in the win and that last hand.

During the break I learn that one of my team players has been eliminated very early. So that gave us a disadvantage to win or place high in the team event. Hearing this took some pressure of me making it an individual game to see how far I could go. After the break, I folded a lot of hands. Hole cards weren’t being very helpful, my eyes were getting heavy and so I needed a break. I took the time to walk around and check on my fellow TYB players and my team. With a new revived vigour I get back the grinding. I get back and not long after I am dealt KT. I limp in with the blinds with 4 in the hand I’m looking good.
Flop is T T rag
It’s a rainbow flop, so I’m leading here. I bet half the pot and I get one caller
Turn is a rag
Again I bet out and again I’m called
River card is a King
I bet on my full house, but the other player folds. I take down another decent pot.

As players are eliminated, other tables are broken down and we had new players join our table. As new players are added that bring along with them, monster chip stacks. Mrs Ruthless triples up on her last hand before joining our table. I am dealt this time with pocket 2’s, to which I limp in. I flop trips and I raise double blinds, no one calls.

Lina joins our table and she is chip leader. There was a hand when she is on small blinds, with 2 others in the hand. Lina raises preflop, big blind folds but one other player calls.
Flop are rags, Lina checks as does the other player. The turn card is another rag but gives a flush draw. Lina bets $30k, the unknown player takes time to think, then eventually pushes All In with an extra $26k. Lina sits and re-thinks the betting then calls.
Showdown:
Lina 33 vs Unknown player suited cards (pocket 3’s vs flush draw)
The river card is another rag and Lina’s pockets hold.

As the tournament is down the business end, TYB players Evil74 and Faga join the table. With 4 TYB players on the table this will be interesting. C-One is still battling it strong and with a healthy stack.
I’m on the right to the dealer, so everyone folds to me, and I’m holding AK. I raise about double, but dealer re-raises to $35k. Lina folds her small blind and big blinds calls. Action is on me and I show my cards to other players on the table before I fold. They are shocked that I fold AK preflop, explained that I can’t beat the dealer’s made hand.
Showdown:
Dealer TT vs Big blind 69 suited diamonds
Dealer’s pocket Tens hold, and fortunately for me I made the right call as AK didn’t hit.

A couple hands later, Evil74 is on small blinds and Faga is on big blinds. The player to my right folds and again I am dealt AK. With only just over 2 blinds worth of chips, I push All In. Lina asks if she should call, I respond its up to you. Everyone folds and action is back on big blind, Faga. She takes her time, but eventually calls.
Showdown:
Number AK vs Faga KQ
So pre-flop, I’m looking ok, but I know until the river nothing is set in stone. Flop, no hit, but the turn card Faga hits her Queen. The river is a rag and that ends my run in the tournament. I was the last player in my team to be eliminated and I had a good day.

Before leaving the venue, I manage to catch the bad beat of the night.
Showdown:
A8 vs KK
Flop A A rag
Player screams with delight hitting his trips
Turn card is a King, trip Kings vs trip Aces
Player still excited with his lead
River card is a King, quads Kings vs Aces full. Wow!

----------------------------------------------------------

Well it was a day of screaming and learning how to do sign language at Chantelle's team poker tournament. I was seated at table 17, which was located next to the band. So every time they played a song we couldn't here each other’s calls, raises, and folds. It was point to the air when we wanted to raise, slice the throat when we wanted to fold and thumbs up when we wanted to call.

Our table had a few poker sharks on it, so my game plan was just to fold every hand and just play my blinds. Just as well I did, as our table was dealt poker Aces 10 times, which held every time. We also had other pocket pairs; Kings, Jacks and 8's, resulting in big hands like full houses, straights, and flushes. I won a big pot off Richie (RA) totaling around $25k+
Richie raised, I re-raised him and every one else folded. I was holding pocket Jack.
Flop turned all low cards. Richie checks and I rise out, he calls instantly
Turn comes out another low card. Richie checks and I bet out again. Once and again Richie calls instantly. I'm thinking, Oh! What is he holding?
The river card is a 10, giving a possible low straight, but Richie would have to be holding 9,6. Knowing Richie's game, I don't think he would raise pre-flop with that but I'm still weary that he possibly could be holding those cards. So when Ritchie checks the river I checked as well as the pot was big enough and I didn't want to commit any more in case I’m behind.
I turn over my pocket Jacks and Ritchie gives a look of pain as he turns over his pocket 8’s. I'm screaming inside of joy that my Jacks held but I didn't want to celebrate too much as that hand crippled Ritchie, and he was showing it so I didn't want to rub it in.

Bakerboy was also on my table and he also won a few big pots, but we were divided amongst the other tables. I’m looking good with a chip stack of around 75k. I sit down with Vernon, Jarm, Big Joe, Frisco and 3 other girls. I folded a lot of the hands just trying to get a feel of the table. There was one particular hand that was the turning point for me. Vernon was on the BB, Jarm raises out 20k pre flop, I call with AJ suited hearts, everyone folds and action is back to Vernon, who calls. There are 3 of us in the hand and the flop shows low cards with one of them being a heart. They both check so I get a free look at the turn. The turn card is the 6 of hearts, giving me the nut flush draw. Vernon bets out, Jarm folds and I re-raise Vernon. Vernon pushes All In and I'm thinking WTF did I get myself into!

At this time I know I'm going to call him but I take time to access the damage if I lose. Calling will only leave me enough for 2 big blinds. So I take my time and eventually call, but I let Vernon know that I'm chasing.
Showdown:
C-One AJ (suited hearts) vs Vernon 64. Flush draw vs 2 pair
I hit my flush on the river and Vernon exits the tourney. Again our table gets divided and I’m on my way to the final 3 tables.

I lose a few pots here and there and win a few to keep me safe from the blinds. V-man is the designated dealer for our table and a few hands in I'm on the big blind. I get dealt 23 (Michael Jordan's - V-man's favorite hand) Central Stars player next to me pushes All In and everyone folds with the action back on me. For some reason I'm actually thinking about calling but I eventually fold but show V-man my hand. He shakes his head and says I would've dealt you trips. The very next hand I’m dealt 23 again, now I'm thinking WTF this must be a sign. Everyone folds and the action is back on the blinds, me and the Central Stars player.
I push All In and she calls showing AK and I'm thinking, Hell! Again? I walk into a big blind special.
The flop, no hit and CS girl is leading with Ace high. The turn, still no hit and the river card I pair up with a 2. Everyone starts laughing, some in disgust with an All In push with 23, but a win is a win and I'll take it. This cripples the CS player and she goes out the very next hand with 23. With that last win, I'm in a comfortable position with only 3 tables left. I tighten up my game and eventually make final table with about 275k.

I hit the wall when I get to final table with only splitting one hand with Sina, the rest I folded or lose my blinds to raises. Blinds eventually catch up with me, I get T5 suited diamonds and I'm on the big blind. Central Star players pushes All In, Sina calls and with only 25k on top of the big blinds I push All In as well.
Showdown:
Central Stars AK, vs Sina J5 vs C-One T5.
Sina and I hit a 5 on the flop, the turn is a Jack giving Sina 2 pairs and I'm pretty much dead. The river is a 5 giving me a set but Sina a full house. I bow out of the tourney at 7th place and $50 cash prize. Sina eventually goes on and wins the Tournament.
Being the last TYB player in the tournament I take the 3 points for our TYB Social game. All in all, it was a good day.
