TYB Tournament

Welcome everyone to TYB’s inaugural tournament!

Wow, 2 years ago no one would’ve thought that TYB would be throwing a tournament like this. Sure we had the small mini games, but not like this. We were a bit sceptical at first, not sure what to expect; considering that we only had 9 tickets paid a week before the tournament. But fortunately we had a decent number of walk-in players and we manage to sit 79 players. As per the TYB In-House tournament in June, the starting stacks were $100k, something that the majority wasn’t expecting.

I was appointed the Tournament Director and I must tell you there were a lot of things that needed to be catered for. With the support of the TYB family, I was confident that we would be able to run a successful tournament.

In the early beginning, there were some pretty good hands and some very bad beats:
Pocket 4s vs Pocket 10s
Both hit their sets on the flop, but the river card was a 4 – Quads vs Boat

AK vs Pocket 8s vs Pocket 6s
With pocket 8s holding till pocket 6s hits its set on the river.

As players were being eliminated preparations for the final table was being organised. In typical TYB fashion we decided to glamorise the final table by introducing the final table. Also we announced their chip stacks so everyone knew who was chip leader and who was on low stack.

Final Table

Congratulations to Betty who took out our TYB Tournament, she offered a three way split which the other two accepted. 2nd place went to Bryan from Four Corners and 3rd place went to John from Central Stars. Well done everyone else who made final table.

With the support of the TYB family, we managed to achieve an awesome tournament. We received positive feedback from everyone, and they were especially surprised with the prizes.

I thank my fellow crew for their input in our meetings. They gave some excellent ideas that contributed to such a successful tournament.

Excellent job holding down the fort and your efforts were reflected in the awesome result from the kitchen. Although they were down one member the girls stepped up and pushed out the food.

The ‘front of house’ girls expected the majority of the players were going to be walk-ins. They did a fantastic job, collecting money and book-keeping.

These guys were on point, making sure that the sausages were prepped and ready for the kitchen during break times. They had to brave our awesome ‘four seasons in one day’ weather.

Well done guys, was difficult at times, but you all pulled through. Awesome stuff when moving players and breaking down tables. This was handled very well and made my job easier to know that you guys were on point.
